I want to go back to the home base now.

Why does the Neural Surfer write this stuff?

Simple answer:

Asking deep and critical questions of guru authorities (of whatever
stripe) is a necessary prelude for thinking well. To abdicate our
minds prematurely leads only to cultic modes of thought and to a
a general tendency to justify the silliest of ideas and behaviors.

The Neural Surfer is really about that most neglected of senses:

COMMON sense.

Naturally, there are those who are quite upset when they see their
particular Master or Path or Ideology questioned and severely
doubted.

But my hunch is that the "true" path or master will be able to
survive the puny questions posed by a 40+ old surfer with an
academic bent.

To the degree that they cannot, then such questions are all the more
illuminating.
