Twitchell and 1 percent Plagiarism:

1. Steve makes the interesting allegation that Twitchell didn't
really plagiarize (and if he did it was only about 1 percent of his
writing). Yet, in just one book alone, THE FAR COUNTRY, I have found
over 400 paragraphs that are quite similar to the books of Julian P.
Johnson (particularly, THE PATH OF THE MASTERS and WITH A GREAT
MASTER IN INDIA). 

Moreover, my analysis does not even cover the other books that
Twitchell copied from to write the FAR COUNTRY. Keep in mind that
Johnson was not the only source to be cribbed from by Twitchell.

2. Steve also says that there weren't "copying" machines back when
Twitchell wrote in the 1960s. Actually that is wrong, since my
father used one in his office way before Twitchell wrote THE FAR
COUNTRY. But, of course, that sidelights the real issue.

Twitchell tried to pass his work off as "original" when in fact it
was consciously purloined from the texts of Julian Johnson and
others.       

Almost every time Rebazar Tarzs talks in the FAR COUNTRY it is directly
from THE PATH OF THE MASTERS or WITH A GREAT MASTER IN INDIA.

Twitchell didn't take notes of Rebazar's talks; he simply used
Johnson as his voice-piece.

Look at Dave Rife's website with the new study on Eckankar. Take a
close inspection of how many parts of THE SHARIYAT-KI-SUGMAD were
lifted from Johnson's writings and others. This study also contains
an extensive appendix which will be put on the Net in the next few
weeks, illustrating more of Twitchell's appropriations.

Re-read every book by Twitchell closely.  Here's a partial list:

1. THE TIGER'S FANG (contains plagiarized material)
2. THE FAR COUNTRY (contains plagiarized material)
3. LETTERS TO GAIL, volume one and two (contains plagiarized
material)
4. DIALOGUES.... (contains plagiarized material)
5. THE FLUTE OF GOD (contains not only plagiarized material, but
extensive name replacements)
6. THE SHARIYAT-KI-SUGMAD, both book one and two (contains
plagiarized material)
7. ECK VIDYA (contains plagiarized material)
8. ECKANKAR--THE KEY TO SECRET WORLDS (contains plagiarized
material)
9. HERBS: THE MAGIC HEALERS (contains plagiarized material)
10. TALONS OF TIMES (one of my personal favorites, but contains
plagiarized material)


Every one of the above books contains extensive plagiarized
material. 

Naturally, don't trust Lane as a guide. Just get the books, read
them closely, and then do some cross-referencing.

You will find much more plagiarism than we can even imagine.

Why?

Because Twitchell cribbed his stuff and didn't want to acknowledge
his sources.

I think the justifications for it have been completely lame.

Remember what Twitchell did to J.R. (who didn't even plagiarize his
stuff, but only used similar concepts!)......

Twitchell wanted to sue John-Roger Hinkins.

Twitchell knows what plagiarism is when he sees it done to himself
(so does Eckankar, by the way...... try copying their books and
selling them as original).....

Twitchell can even get so pissed about it that he wants to fly an
attorney down to Miami to sue J.R.

Take Twitchell's understanding and apply it to his own writings.....
